SUMMER HURDLES

I visited both Ballinrobe racecourse in County Mayo and Wexford's county racecourse for the first time in 2006 whilst on a family holiday in Ireland.
Both have much to recommend them, not least the accessibility to the courses,
which is more akin to the point-to-point field than the British racetrack.
The weather was glorious and the evening light with its warm golds and glowing shadows was very special. As a consequence, I have probably produced more paintings from these two meetings than from any other I have attended.
This race was at Ballinrobe.
