KAUTO STAR AT NEWBURY Oil on board, 15 x 16 inches A typical grey winters day in Britain for the Aon Chase at Newbury in 2007, not the best kind of light for photography or for painting! This was Kauto at the last fence first time around - he famously made a hash of it at the second time of asking but still managed to beat L'Amie on the line.  I love this horse, he's a real character , but you watch him with your heart in your mouth every time he runs. His 07/08 season was a little indifferent compared to the previous year  when he carried all before him but that might have had something to do with his stablemate Denman! However, if he never scales those heights again he doesn't owe anybody anything. He was a pleasure to watch.
